I'm very satisfied with this product. These chairs are surprisingly sturdy and look great! Assembly took a few minutes but wasn't too difficult. They fit well under our 36 1/4 inch countertops (see pictures). The seat is 24" high, PLUS the thickness of the padding making it 24 1/2" tall at the seat.Assembly revealed loose fitting joints for the leg stretchers and footrest. We used wood glue to occupy that excess space and make solid joints -we need sturdy chairs. Four of sixteen screws for the footrest and stretchers broke well before getting tight against the leg. All the stretcher joints were loose until the chairs were disassembled and glued with carpenter's glue.Be careful, the metals used for the hex headed bolts and screws is soft. Be sure to insert the allen wrench completely before using the necessary force to tighten them. The lock washers are not the correct size and several did distort enough to be ineffective, so we used some of our own lock washers of the correct size. We would like to have seen some type of loctite material in the threads for the bolts holding the legs and seat together. Without the loctite material, they may work loose in time. The wood finish was good, but not overdone. Some of the wood looked a bit "distressed" but we are good with that. Made of strong, hardwood. The upholstered seat was perfect for us.We shopped a lot before picking these Pub Chairs and they fit our kitchen perfectly. They are plenty comfortable. No regrets.I was looking to replace my adjustable barstools (on a chrome swivel base in the photo) because one of them broke and then I read that they have a 250 pound weight limit, so that's why. I looked all over for some chairs that would be decently contemporary looking and also support 300 pounds without breaking. These are totally not what I thought I would buy, but I really really liked the look of them and that they have such a high back. We have high ceilings, so I really don't want to buy stools that look like they belong in a shack/dorm room. I also didn't want to buy chairs that wouldn't last when we changed decor. These are subtle being in this nice espresso shade and I'm sitting in them right now, so they're comfortable af. I didn't buy these for this reason, but I snapped a picture of the bottom of these chairs because they don't have anti-flammable chemicals in the foam! I was reading about how bad that is for your health and was delighted to find this chair doesn't happen to have them. One tip I have is to definitely follow the instructions in order. I didn't for the legs part and ended up with a wobbly chair. I untightened the bolts, sat in the chair, then retightened and the one that was wobbly wasn't wobbly anymore. Another thing is to buy heavy duty furniture pads for the bottoms. I cut little circles out, stuck them to the leg bottoms, and the chairs don't make marks on the wood floor anymore. This stool matches our dining chairs and wash chosen for that reason. The assembly was a bit frustrating and the instructions were marginal. (You might need a magnifying glass to read them.) What seems relatively easy became an exercise in frustration for me. You have to fish bolts into sockets in the blind, underneath the seat cushion. There is no way to see if they're going in straight or even near the holes. PLUS, the Left and Right stringers are mis-labeled, to my right-brain logic. I assumed the Left brace is for the left side of the stool, as you are sitting on it. It is the opposite. That made sense to my wife's left-brain logic, as she said, "no, it's the left side of the stool as you are looking at it." (from the front).Once I figured out the first stool, the 2nd went together much more quickly, though you do still have to blind-thread the bolts in to unseen sockets......!Still beautiful stools. They do have odd little plastic buttons on the bottom of each leg. I'm considering removing them to place felt pads instead. My wife and I almost didn't order these chairs due to some of the reviews. We are glad we changed our minds. There was some delay in the shipping. After a few days I emailed the seller inquiring about this. I receive a prompt email stating that one of our boxes was found to be slightly defective prior to shipping and that the seller had to wait for more to arrive to be able to provide a good matching set. This was encouraging to us. We were offered the option to cancel the order. We elected to wait and the order arrived a few days late. The chairs arrived in great condition and were exactly as advertised (brown with tan seats). All of the parts and hardware were included, properly labeled and well packaged. The assembly was quick and very simple. These chairs obviously are not high-end quality furniture BUT from 3 feet away you would hardly know it. They are pretty well finished, heavy and sturdy chairs. Their perceived value far exceeds their cost! I would definitely buy them again and would recommend them to friends and family. It would be 5 stars except that the instructions aren’t detailed enough. They’re overly simplified and they assume you understand what to do, which way to turn the pieces, etc. There aren’t many pieces to assemble, which is nice, but I assembled the first chair incorrectly even though I was following the instructions carefully. As a result, one of the screws went through one leg at the wrong angle or something and caused a small piece of wood on the other side to break off. After assembling the second chair, I realized what I did wrong on the first chair (put the front legs on backwards) and we had to disassemble and reassemble the chair to fix it. Pain in the butt. Otherwise the chairs are sturdy and nice looking. We bought the cappuccino color, which has non-fabric seats, so they’re easy to wipe clean. Btw, the cappuccino color is black, don’t fool yourself that it’s dark brown. I’m probably going to repaint at some point bc the black doesn’t work in my kitchen.
